London letters, a retrospective

Lena Singla
London has always held a special place in my heart. The grey skies, the bustling streets, the quiet parks…
This retrospective captures moments from my recent visit, where I sketched and painted the city’s hidden corners. There’s something magical about wandering through neighborhoods with a sketchbook in hand, watching the light change as afternoon turns to evening.
Discovering Hidden Corners
The beauty of London lies not just in its famous landmarks, but in the unexpected moments - a weathered doorway in Shoreditch, the play of light through autumn leaves in Regent’s Park, the colorful facades of Notting Hill houses.
Each sketch became a meditation on place and presence, a way of truly seeing the city beyond the tourist snapshots.
The Artistic Process
Working in ink and watercolor on location brings its own challenges. The unpredictable British weather, curious passersby, the need to work quickly before the light changes. But these constraints also bring spontaneity and energy to the work.
These London letters are more than just visual records - they’re love letters to a city that continues to inspire.
