A bit of personal context
Why I made this series of AI luggage
There’s no industry as dreamy and exciting as the luggage and travel industry. And it’s pretty obvious these days. The most trendy and exciting thing to do is to travel. New generations are all in for experiences and aesthetics. And luggage brands are popping everywhere, where Away went first opening the way. The after-pandemic high may also has helped.
What else would look good on an Instagram grid than nice outfits in stunning places? Yes, we love romanticising travel. And of course I love being part, a small part, of that world. In my day job, I get to daydream about the traveling experience. Well, it’s not exactly my job to dream about drinking pretty cocktails on a beach ~ though the thought might cross my mind… But I do have to think about what travellers do, need and want (just in relation to their luggage).
For a luggage designer, the limitations can be many. But with AI and for the digital world, they are endless.
So, the technicalities of my work won’t stop my imagination working after hours and I can’t help but to try to imagine unreal possibilities. What if luggage was made differently, from different materials, different shapes and put in completely different spaces?
Let’s take a look to my first trip with AI luggage.
The World’s most traveled rarities

You’ve just entered the museum of Unreal Luggage.
Here you won’t find the first trunk by Louis Vuitton, nor the latest American Tourister in forest green.
This is a place for rarities, for the impossible, for what was only conceivable in imagination… and AI.
I had thought about some of the images below a very long time ago. Back then, my idea was to make them in 3d or as illustrations.
Well, now I have a quicker, more satisfying and better looking way to bring them to life. It may just be an exercise of ideation, prompting and refining but it is fun and really interesting to explore.
This may just be the start of something new.
The AI luggage
You didn’t know you needed it but soon you’ll want it IRL.

One of the fun things about it is not just to see your ideas made into visuals in seconds, but how the fact that you can explore so many ideas so quickly. This allows for the mental space to think something else, and look for something that could be better.
So I may be pushing the publish button in this post but I’m not convinced that this AI luggage series are finished.
The journey might continue…
PS: I’ll keep exploring the them of imaginative luggage. What kind of things would you imagine completely differently as how they are?
Sea you soon
