The best season starts; the art and bits

It’s been almost two seasons without sharing new articles. Not that I had nothing to tell or show, in fact, I already had a backlog of ideas, written posts, some artwork and photo projects. For some reason, I didn’t consider anything quite finished or right for the moment. But I’m sharing some spring stuff anyway, because it’s the season of flowers and I live that deeply (and in the other hemisphere will be right on time!). However, you may have realised just by following along, that there are in fact plenty of flowers all year round.

Now the days are getting shorter again. I go to work and it’s still dark night when I get out. Maybe these are good days to get back here because I can sit with the laptop by the sunny window without sweating, as I did some days ago. Maybe it’s because I feel anxious again, with September around the corner. And we know that after it it’s all just downhill until Christmas and New Year.Though it may also be a very productive time. We’ll see.

Between rain and blooms

We had an unusual rainy season, which meant cosy days but also too many cloudy days for a sunny summer Mediterranean soul like me. So it makes it feel like quite a long winter, too sad for spending after-work hours in the computer. Although it also meant that when the sun shined, the colors popped like never before and the spirits raised fast.

Summer was good, as the warm days started early in June (I enjoyed good weather for my birthday!) and the too hot days of August didn’t last much. And life was busy, in a good way I suppose even though for me there was too many workdays and too many social events ~ or to be more precise, not enough time for myself and my creative endeavors.

The art of the seasons

Blue florals marked the end of winter.

Rich, full and intrincate florals with lots of texture and detailed line work. I used my favorite tools, the fountain pen and beautiful calligraphic inks with many layers and blue hues.

Early spring flowers

Then I wanted to experiment a little bit with all the other inks I owned and add a little bit of color. I mean, there’s no color like blue, but we have to keep things a little bit interesting. So inspired by the clean sunny skies and first blooms, I made this ink painting that you can see here below.

Keep exploring

I improvised another piece of artwork, to keep exploring color and the inks I already had. Yes, I have new inks I’m working with now, I will tell you more about them soon. My work evolves slowly as I don’t get to spend as much time as I would like to with my art but I always have something in the works and thousand more ideas!

I did take the time to try to better document the process. Even though it’s faster not having to do it 😛

Sea you soon
